If you’ve been following our socials you might have noticed we’ve recently brought on the magical Madison Voloshin as our DAVROE hair ambassador.
Want to get to know him a little better? We don’t blame you, he’s amazing! Read on for an excerpt from the latest issue of The Journal.
TJ: What’s been happening in the world of Madison Voloshin?
MV: 2019 has been a massive year! I’ve been busy on the salon floor with A + H Salon, collaborating on a tonne of awesome shoots (most recently with Davroe and THE JOURNAL) and was lucky enough to be named AHFA Men’s Hairdresser of the Year for a second time. That and my new gig with Davroe… Madison Voloshin has definitely been keeping busy.
TJ: Tell us, what first drew you to the Davroe brand?
MV: As a session stylist, I’ve worked with so many different brands and products (it’s vital in our line of work) but what impressed me most about Davroe was that it’s not only all vegan, void of parabens, sulphates and petro-chemicals, but their wet-range is unlike any other I’ve encountered – it’s perfect for styling. It’s also Australian owned and made; a family run business with an amazing boss lady at the helm. I’m excited to be part of the Davroe family!
TJ: In your opinion, what differentiates Davroe from its market competitors?
MV: The diversity of the range. Clients have really taken to the range and are loving the new packaging. Being Australian made and owned (a big win!) products are formulated with the Australian climate (and client) front of mind. Not only do they nourish and protect, but also make for easy, effortless styling. There’s a certain coolness to the brand. The products are simple and do exactly what they say they will. They’re subtle, specific and can be tailored to suit any client or purpose. A little goes a long way; you don’t need too much product to garner the desired results.
TJ: Tell us about the brand’s global reach.
MV: Now, more than ever, people are looking to Australia for inspiration – from our fashion to our editorial hair scene. People love that effortless, Aussie beauty. Besides being quintessentially Australian, Davroe is a brand that transcends region. It’s a local brand with an international appeal; one that’s distilled the Aussie essence and packaged it up for the world. At present, the brand is stocked in Europe, the US and the UK as well as New Zealand.
TJ: Tell us about your recent collab with Davroe and THE JOURNAL?
MV: The shoot was all about channeling effortless beauty – combining high fashion and modern rock elements with a cool girl, Parisian vibe. I wanted to showcase the full extent of the Davroe range; the capabilities are endless! This is just the beginning of what Davroe can do… each new product and campaign will be bigger and better than its predecessor.
TJ: What are your must-have products from Davroe?
MV: Murray River Salt Spray: Made with salt from the Murray River, it’s lightweight with a matte finish, and not too sticky. It’s also dry enough to put your hands through it, yet still malleable. It also has that great ocean scent. Curl Crème Definer: Really rich, and great for curly and/or frizzy hair. It’s never oily, dry or crunchy. It holds curls and gives an added bounce. It’s a staple on set and if need be, I can spray it with water and rework. Texture Clay: This starts off wet, so it’s easier to work into your hands. It leaves hair with a matte, sandy texture and has a great medium hold. You can also layer it for grit. Cloud: This one always gets people talking! The particles are lightweight and it adds volume, texture and hold without weighing down the hair. You can also build it up depending on your desired result.
TJ: How would you describe your signature aesthetic?
MV: I love creating beautiful, effortless hair. Think: Rough, sexy, cool girl hair. That’s a little messed up but beautiful at the same time.
TJ: What can we expect to see next from yourself and the brand?
MV: Bringing Davroe to the people through education, trips across Australia and more editorial shoots. Training stylists on how to get the most out of the Davroe range, sharing the brand story with clients and professionals and empowering stylists with tools they can use both in-salon and in an editorial setting. We’ll be covering a number of looks – both editorial, and for clients. We want to inspire stylists through the Davroe range. Next up, a trip to the manufacturing site in Adelaide. The sky’s the limit… watch this space.
Over the next couple weeks we’ll be rolling out some behind the scenes footage and images from Madison’s shoot with The Journal.
