You know you love DAVROE products because of the way we look after your hair but you may or may not know about our long time relationship with the Little Heroes Foundation.
While we are all about Natural, Vegan and Cruelty-free hair care Dresslier has also been a long time supporter of Little Heroes Foundation, a South Australian based not for profit organisation that supports seriously ill children and their families.
The Little Heroe’s foundation have achieved great things over the last 20 years and have contributed close to $20 million for lifesaving facilities at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital for much needed equipment and since 2011 has also provided daily support to families through our Little Heroes Care program.
Recently the Little Heroes Foundation and Mental Research Foundation joined forces and announced their new initiative Big Talks for little people
Did you know?
A child’s friend is the first responder when they are dealing with a mental health issue.
About 1 in 7 children between the ages of 4 and 7 have experienced a mental health issue in Australia. Some of the common issues include:
- Relationship problems (family, peers)
- Eating or body image issues
- Bullying (including cyber bullying)
- Abuse (physical, emotional or sexual)
- Feeling sad or depressed
- Worry or anxiety
- Self-harm or suicide
About Big Talks for little people
This joint initiative supports Mental health for Children by educating and encouraging kids to open-up by providing early intervention and prevention strategies that equip children with the tools to ensure their well being and resilience as they get older.
The Big Talks for Little People program content is designed to be delivered by teachers, or on a student self-help basis, with the help of a wonderful animated visual to support the children’s learning. The program is delivered free of charge for schools.
This program will also fund Friendship Benches in schools, a physical space where kids can have conversations with each other about mental health.
Here is a little video they put together explaining the program
Here at Davroe, we’re delighted to be helping out in what is a great Idea!
Quite simply, I have always admired what the Little Heroes foundation has done! The assistance they have provided families with ill children and raising funds for much needed equipment is outstanding!!
However, the move to merge on their new venture of Big Talks for little people in collaboration with Breakthrough Mental Heath, is so very important, especially in today’s climate of lockdowns and so much uncertainty especially for our young children/teens, who are really feeling it.
Anything we can contribute in the way of monetary assistance and sharing information on this topic is very important to John and I and our team a Davroe.
